Eating before your train at Brussels-Midi
Got a train to catch at Brussels-Midi (Brussels South station) and an hour to spare? Brasserie Belge is right opposite the station, at the Place Victor Horta exit, at no. 16-18. You step out, cross the square and sit down. And when it is time to go, the platforms are two minutes away.
How much time do you need?
Say so when you order: a train to catch changes how we serve you. Express dishes are marked on the menu, they come out of the kitchen fast and are eaten without waiting. On our home page, the next departures from Brussels-Midi are shown live, with time, destination, platform and any delay: you keep an eye on your train without leaving the table.
What to eat when you are in a hurry?
For a quick meal, pick a dish marked Express on the menu. With a little more time, it is the moment to try what people come here for: mussels, plain, in garlic cream or in white wine, with fries; Flemish beef stew simmered in beer; shrimp croquettes; vol-au-vent; and to finish, a Liège waffle. Not having mussels? Pasta, salads, burgers, salmon and fish & chips are on the menu too. To drink, eight Belgian beers on tap, from Maes to Chouffe, and the great Trappists in bottles.
With your luggage
Arriving by train or heading for one: bring your bags, there is room. No need to find a locker to have lunch. A meal between two trains, a coffee while waiting for a connection, a dinner before the last departure: the brasserie is made for travellers as much as for the people of Saint-Gilles.
Eurostar, Thalys/TGV and Belgian trains
Brussels-Midi is Brussels' international station: Eurostar, Thalys/TGV and Belgian trains leave from its platforms. Whether you are waiting for a local train or a connection abroad, the brasserie is the same place, opposite the Place Victor Horta exit.
A coffee before the first train, a drink after the last
We are open every day, public holidays included, from 8 am to 10.30 pm. The kitchen serves from 8 am to 10 pm. Early in the morning, a coffee or a hot drink before you leave; in the evening, the bar welcomes you until 10.30 pm if you arrive after the kitchen has closed.
On site
A large dining room, a terrace on the square, a bar corner with its beer taps. The team speaks French, English and Dutch, and the menu is available in six languages, handy when travelling. Bank cards and contactless accepted, American Express not accepted. Got a train to catch? Tell us when you order, it is the simplest way.
No need to book
For a quick meal or a dinner, even at the weekend, just walk in. Travelling as a group? A reserved area and a tailor-made menu can be prepared in advance: request a proposal on the Groups page, reply within 24 hours.
